What Is PDO Thread Lift Treatment?

PDO threads lift is a minimally invasive cosmetic technique designed to lift and tighten sagging skin, particularly on the face. This procedure involves the use of PDO or polydioxanone threads made of a special medical-grade protein, which is entirely biodegradable and absorbable. These threads are inserted into the skin and can provide an instant facelift with minimal discomfort and downtime. The PDO threads stimulate the production of collagen, which helps achieve a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance. The procedure is non-surgical and can be performed on various body and face areas, such as the forehead, cheeks, jowls, and necklines.

How Do PDO Threads Lift Work?

PDO threads are inserted into the subcutaneous tissue, or SMAS layer of the skin, with a tiny needle. Once injected, the threads remain in the skin and stimulate collagen production, leading to a natural lifting effect. These products are absorbable and dissolve over time, leaving only the new collagen in place. The PDO threads come in various shapes and sizes and are chosen to suit the individual patient’s needs. This technique is well-tolerated by most patients and results in minimal downtime.

Am I a Candidate for a Thread Face Lift?

This aesthetic treatment is aimed at people who want to reverse the first signs of ageing, such as fine lines, wrinkles or furrows (generally, from 35 to 40 years), or lift sagging skin. The facial threads procedure is not recommended on mature skin, which is excessively flaccid or has deeper wrinkles. In this case, alternatives like Radiesse Injectables can be a better solution.

On the other hand, it is also contraindicated in people suffering from immune system disorders, infections or in patients taking anti-inflammatories.

Benefits of Restoring Your Skin Without Surgery

The benefits of using body threads lifts are multiple:

  • With this technique, a facelift is obtained without surgery: it is possible to restore the facial tightness that is lost over time, making it possible to eliminate double chins and recover elasticity and lift the skin.
  • It is possible to improve the facial skin texture, which will look much smoother, brighter and rejuvenated.
  • They stimulate collagen and elastin production naturally and allow tissues to be repositioned.
  • Immediate and effective results with low side effects.

What Are the different types of Body Thread Lift?

There are different types of tension threads based on the material from which they are made (PDO or polylactic acid) and their shape. They are all invisible to touch and sight and can be permanent or resorbable (disappearing in 12 months). Among them, we can include:

Monofilament

The monofilament threads are made with a single strand and are the finest of all threads. Its principal use is to correct flaccidity in the chin area and refine the oval of the jaw. It can also be used on different body parts, such as the abdomen, buttocks, chest or arms.

Spiculated Threads

They have a serrated shape and are the ones that provide the higher anchor to the tissues of the skin. They are indicated to treat areas of the body prone to greater flaccidity, such as the neck, cheeks or jaw.

Multifilament

They are made with several strands, which help them achieve a more harmonious filling effect and a completely natural appearance. This thread lift is generally used for the treatment of lip wrinkles.

Silhouette Threadslift procedure

This product differs from the rest due to the material of the threads, which are made with polylactic acid. It is biocompatible, dissolvable and comes from lactic acid molecules, which stimulate collagen production. Using this material, since the degradation is lesser, further lasting results are gained.

Which Areas Can Be Treated with Thread Lifts?

The best areas to treat with thread lifts are those corresponding to the middle third of the face. The top purposes for choosing this procedure are to raise the eyebrows, treat sagging double chins, raise the nasolabial fold, improve the eye contour and recover marked cheeks. Also, with similar results, you can combine this procedure with other facial harmonisation treatments, such as cheek fillers with hyaluronic acid.

What happens after thread lift treatment?

As it is an outpatient and quick intervention, the patient can return immediately after the treatment to their daily life. The result is 100% natural and not too pronounced, so it will not be noticeable that the patient has undergone an aesthetic procedure. The facial expressions do not change after the treatment, but the overall appearance is improved.
